ITV Hub down: Frustration for football fans as platform experiences 'technical difficulties'

The ITV Hub crashed for thousands of fans eager to watch France face Switzerland in Euro 2020.

The outage came during the first few minutes of the game for many viewers, leading a wave of fans to take to Twitter to complain.

According to the website Downdetector, 12946 failures to access the ITV online platform were reported on June 28, compared to a normal baseline of around three.

Some fans were met with a repeating loop of a short part of the game before being told "this programme is not available".

Acknowledging the issue, the official ITV Hub account tweeted: "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties and working on getting services back as soon as possible."

Online, football fans shared their frustration, many sharing frozen images of a corner about to be taken.

One account tweeted: "I'm watching the France v Switzerland game on ITV hub, it's still 0-0 and i've been waiting for this corner to be taken for the last 18 minutes. No yellow card yet for time wasting either."

Another said: "This game is so exciting, ITV hub letting me watch this corner for 10 minutes in a row."

With the outage coming around half an hour before the first episode of the new series of Love Island, others had different concerns.

One tweeted: "Nah ITV Hub malfunctioning half an hour before Love Island????"
