ITV Good Morning Britain viewers spot 'amateurish' error as show airs special episode on Liz Truss' resignation

Eagle-eyed Good Morning Britain viewers were quick to point out a blunder as they tuned in to the latest episode. The ITV news programme was back on-screen for the final time this week on Friday (October 21) with Kate Garraway and Adil Ray.

While the two hosts stayed in the comfort of the studio, in an unusual move, Susanna Reid also appeared on the programme. The 51-year-old TV star doesn't normally host the last show of the week but appeared live from Number 10 Downing Street.

The 'special' programme was, of course, focused on the latest goings on in the government after Liz Truss resigned as the Conservative Party leader on Thursday (October 20) after just 44 days as Prime Minister.

The ITV show looked back on Truss' short reign as Britain's shortest-serving Prime Minister ever and reflected on what's next, with reports that ex-PM Boris Johnson is preparing to put himself forward as leader once again in what could be an astonishing political comeback.

But as GMB aired a segment looking back on Truss' short stint in No 10, viewers watching at home quickly spotted a production error in the caption appearing on-screen. They noticed that 'forty' was misspelt and quickly flocked to social media.

@nickpaulroper1 tweeted: "Who is responsible for the banding on the screen @GMB Fourty Four?? I think you mean Forty Four." @Be11abunny asked: "#GMB Fourty four days? Is it not forty four days?" @Magee36421837 posted: "@GMB What the hell? It's not fourty it's forty for crying out loud." @Stypejaguar fumed: "@GMB It's Forty not fourty, absolutely amateurish drivel."

Susanna made an exception to come in to work on her day off where she reported live outside the political office which is again at the centre of the news agenda after Liz Truss issued her resignation from outside the very building on Thursday (October 20) after just 44 days in office.

She also took to social media with a selfie outside the famous location, writing: "Morning! At No 10 the day after the Prime Minister did her final u-turn and quit @gmb from 6am."

Returning from a break and a weather report from Laura Tobin at 7am, an hour into the last show of the week, Susanna appeared on-screen before Kate and Adil and said: "Good Morning Britain. Truss out, could Boris bounce back? The race is on for the country's third Prime Minister in just one year."
