ITV Good Morning Britain viewers baffled as hosts 'ignore' elephant in the room

Good Morning Britain viewers were baffled today as they claimed the hosts ignored the elephant in the room.

Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid returned to front Monday's edition of the ITV news programme. They hosted a jam-packed episode, which included an interview with Labour leader, Sir Keir Starmer.

However, some viewers were confused with how they covered one of the major showbiz stories of the day after Phillip Schofield quit This Morning. The broadcaster quit ITV's flagship daytime programme after 20 years in the hosting role.

Phil quit amid reports of a feud with Holly Willoughby and confirmed on Saturday he has presented his last episode of This Morning. The story was addressed by Ranvir Singh, who was reading today's morning headlines.

She said: "Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary will be hosting today’s This Morning following Phillip Schofield’s departure from the show." Fans following the show on Twitter thought the story would be given more time and be addressed by Susanna, Richard or showbiz reporter, Richard Arnold.

Gavin said: "Have you noticed today? No, mention of Philip Schofield on #GMB?"

@Rise_and_grind7 posted: "Proper skimmed over the Schofield story then, didn’t they."

Dario commented: "So #GMB is going to spend hours over a speeding ticket when all newspaper front pages are about Phil"
