ITV Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid calls Twitter user a 'weirdo' live on air

Presenter Susanna Reid was left "reeling" after a Twitter troll took issue with her being outspoken on Good Morning Britain.

The 48-year-old branded the anonymous user a "weirdo" during a live broadcast of the ITV breakfast show.

Co host Piers Morgan read out the Tweet on air, it said: "Can you please mute this woman and her opinions."

Susanna said: "I am still reeling from this tweet.

"You know what? It doesn't make me want to get back in my box, it makes me want to be more opinionated.

"Sorry, anonymous Twitter user, weirdo."

She also posted the tweet on her official Twitter account, and many of her fans supported her by commenting.

One, @simonrice953 said: "Please don't go back in the box. @GMB wouldn't be worth watching otherwise and someone needs to keep @piersmorgan under control."

Another, @pete31982109 said: "She is allowed options gesss (sic)  give her a break."

A third, @Mark17070560 said: "what is it with these low lifes (sic) ......don't they realise your the star of the show, and piers is just your sidekick :D x"

And a fourth, @CaronGould said: "Outrageous! We need more of a feisty Susanna."

The mum-of-three began her career at BBC Radio Bristol and then became a reporter for Radio 5 Live.

She stayed with the BBC for many years, joining BBC News 24 and most notably BBC Breakfast from 2003 to 2014 when she moved over to ITV.

*Good Morning Britain is on ITV every morning from 6am
