ITV Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley under fire for repeatedly interrupting guests as he issues blame

Richard Madeley irritated Good Morning Britain viewers as he repeatedly interrupted a guest during an important interview. The presenter was back at the helm of the programme on Tuesday (April 5) alongside Kate Garraway.

During the latest show, Richard and Kate were joined via video link by former The Bill star Chris Ellison and his wife of more than 40 years, Anita. It was the actor's first television appearance since he was diagnosed with aphasia - a language disorder caused by damage in a specific area of the brain that controls language expression and comprehension, leaving a person unable to communicate effectively with others.

Chris was diagnosed with the condition after suffering a stroke in 2020. His appearance on the show also comes after Bruce Willis' family told the world that he'd be stepping back from acting after being diagnosed with the same condition.

GMB viewers became emotional as they watched Chris as they could see him wanting, and trying to speak, with Anita asking her husband if she was OK to step in and answer the questions on his behalf.

But at one point during the interview, Richard interrupted Anita as she passionately spoke about her husband having singing lessons.

"We discovered he has a great voice," Anit said before laughing: "Is there anything he can't do? That's what I say."

She explained how the singing lessons will carry on with her husband saying 'yes' in agreement. "We've had a couple and suddenly this voice came out. It was really weird and the teacher is 92. She's amazing, very strong."

But as Anita was talking, Richard was heard from the studio trying to ask Anita another question. "So, Anita.." he was heard saying before repeating: "So, Anita. Now you've made..."

Anita did eventually stop talking and Richard issued blame over the constant interruption. "I'm sorry.. it's these blumming live links where we talk over each other a bit."

"It's unavoidable but now..." the 65-year-old host added as Anita was heard apologising. "No, I'm sorry," Richard then said before trying to press on with their chat.

But it didn't stop GMB viewers being frustrated and venting on social media.

"#gmb why is Richard not letting Chris and his wife speak? I feel like since Susanna isn't there, he feels like he's the main man," @PaperStoneEssex tweeted.

@juliegray78 commented: "It’s clear Chris Ellison is frustrated not being able to communicate but give him the chance too. Don’t talk over a guest and let them try to talk…. #GMB."

"@GMB someone needs to sort out these presenters all they do is talk over the guests completely ruined the interview with Chris Ellison," @Leisa7263 fumed.

And it wasn't just that part in the programme as @Emmarawli earlier said: "#GMB Richard let Kate speak , stop interrupting her and your guests!!"

"#GMB Richard Madeley keeps interrupting Kate it's annoying. @GMB," @Kellyfree12 also echoed.
