ITV Good Morning Britain's Piers Morgan calls This Morning's Dr Ranj a 'berk' in Twitter row

Piers Morgan has called This Morning's Dr Ranj Singh a 'berk' after he was told to stop making gender jokes.

The Strictly Come Dancing star took to Twitter to say he was 'tired' of Piers thinking these types of jokes were funny, saying it harms vulnerable people.

The spat comes after Piers, 54, made a joke about identifying as 'trans-slender' after being 'fat shammed' on today's Good Morning Britain.

Dr Ranj said: "I am getting a little tired of @piersmorgan making gender-related jokes on TV for entertainment.

"Piers, this stuff may seem funny, but it actively harms vulnerable people. As a medical professional, I implore you: PLEASE don’t do it."

But, the GMB host responded saying: "Hi Ranj, I am getting a little tired of humourless ‘woke’ berks like you telling me what gender-related jokes I can & can’t make on TV for entertainment... I implore you: PLEASE don’t do it."

There were many who agreed with Piers, one said: "We have turned into a society of SNOWFLAKES!!"

Another added: "What has this once great country become. Where a bit of banter on TV is now classed as bullying. Why are everyone always bloody offended and why is it those offended all have that same look?"

But there were others who felt the weight of Dr Ranj's words and agreed that a man with such a public platform should be more responsible.

One said: "Don’t think he’ll ever stop. Mainly because he really doesn’t care. It doesn’t affect him so why should he? Just the rest of us have to deal with the fall out."

Another said: "Honestly don't think he cares. All he cares about is ratings and his own popularity... no matter the wider consequences of feeding an 'angry generation'."

A third added: "@DrRanj I’m so glad you’ve said this! Watching him this morning thinking am I the only person thinking how unethical, unprofessional and insensitive he was being?"
