ITV Good Morning Britain's Ed Balls leaves Susanna Reid with head in her hands after Lorraine Kelly 'rub it on' remarks

Ed Balls left Susanna Reid with her head in her hands on the latest episode of Good Morning Britain as he asked Lorraine Kelly: "Is it working?" The former labour politician-turned-TV star was stood up from his seat as he and his co-host spoke to their fellow ITV star via video link from their neighbouring studio.

Ed and Susanna were speaking to Lorraine during their daily crossover with the Scottish presenter to find out what was coming up on the latest edition of her self-titled show. After sharing how she'd be chatting to Strictly Come Dancing stars Gorka Marquez, Nancy Xu and Karen Hauer, Lorraine also revealed that Dr Hilary Jones was also live in the studio.

"I'm standing up for a very good reason," the 63-year-old started by saying. "It's been called the new viagra, Dr Hilary is here with the gel that claims to work in just 10 minutes," she then explained.

After finishing her link, cameras returned to the GMB studio where Ed suddenly jumped up out of his seat. "Do you think I should feel something?" he asked as Susanna turned her body away from her co-host and laughed. "Give it ten minutes," the mum-of-three quipped as Ed quizzed: "Is there something happening?"

Lorraine then informed him: "You have to rub it on," before Susanna exclaimed: "Oh my goodness," and put her head in her hands. "Do it later," Lorraine then suggested as Ed pretended to look for an exit route from his seat on the GMB desk. "I'll tell you, I prefer the Bakewell tart," Ed added prompting more laughter and for Susanna to say: "Oh my days," before swiftly moving on with the programme.

Earlier in the show, Ed brutally shut down his co-star Ranvir Singh as they discussed the King's new signature dish to mark his coronation. The host, 56, was responding to the news that King Charles and Camilla, Queen Consort, have chosen a recipe for 'Coronation Quiche' to mark their upcoming coronation.

While sharing their thoughts on the new recipe, Ed suggested someone could substitute the spinach for samphire which could make a different variation of the quiche. Glaring at her co-star, Ranvir said: "I don't think the King has condoned that, Ed. But he explained: "I'm just saying, the King would like there to be a range of options.

Still not wanting to agree, Ranvir stated: "I'm going to go with the traditional King's quiche." But jokingly clapping back, Ranvir said: "The traditional King's quiche? It's only been with us for about two days!" Defending her stance, the presenter explained that she has never eaten coronation chicken because she is vegetarian, adding: "This is my only chance to eat anything stamped by the King."
