ITV Good Morning Britain's Ben Shephard apologises as Kate Beckinsale's outfit 'slips through the net'

Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins were left apologising to Good Morning Britain viewers after a sweary blunder. The presenters were back at the helm of the ITV news programme on Friday (July 22) with Charlotte again stepping in for Kate Garraway who has been forced to take time off due to her husband's ill health.

As usual, the pair rattled through the latest news headlines - from the ongoing Tory leadership race to Martin Lewis who has warned of potential civil unrest over rising energy costs with an increase in growth of groups of people calling for mass non-payment of bills.

But also among the topics they were discussing was actress Kate Beckinsale who has come under fire for posting a video of herself feeding foxes. The 48-year-old took to Instagram on Tuesday and shared a video of herself feeding a wild baby fox who showed up at her mother's London home in recent days.

Alongside one of her latest videos, she wrote: 'I've been so touched during a really hard week by the absolute force that is kindness and friendship... Please, everyone, put kindness somewhere, anywhere. It's life-altering. Thank you so much to all my special people. And my little orphan bestie."

While many of the Underworld star's followers were left cooing over the footage, others questioned whether it was a good idea to encourage foxes to live in urban environments. During today's GMB, Ben and Charlotte were joined in the ITV studio by journalist Mark Palmer and wildlife gardener Kate Bradbury for a debate on the matter.

Mark argued that foxes shouldn't be treated like pet and that feeding them is 'irresponsible' while Kate believes it's 'our duty' to feed them after 'taking away their natural habitat'. She believes that there is no harm feeding foxes occasionally because there's less space for wild animals to find natural food.

However, during the debate, the video Kate posted on social media appeared on screen and unintentionally featured a swear word. She could b seen sat outside at a table with the mammals while donning a hot pink blazer short suit over a white T-shirt which featured the word 'f**k'.

Following the end of the debate, Ben said; "Also apologises... apparently the t-shirt in that video may have had a swear word on." He added; "I didn't see it but..." Charlotte then interjected: "If you're eagle-eyed and offended we apologise," before Ben added: "For letting that slip through the net."
