ITV Good Morning Britain's Alex Beresford responds to viewers 'cruel' remarks after sharing 'concern'

Alex Beresford has responded after his latest TV appearance sparked concern. While viewers may be used to seeing him on Good Morning Britain, on Wednesday (October 5) he was giving the latest weather report on ITV Evening News.

But his time on the show quickly caused alarm. The 41-year-old was seen broadcasting live, outdoors, from Liverpool where he was facing all the elements as the city was battered by wind and rain.

Alex could be seen trying to keep as dry as possible in a camouflage coat with his hood up as he tried to deliver his latest weather report. But viewers tuning in were concerned.

Meanwhile, @Magellanic80 tweeted: "Do feel sorry for #alexberesford stood in the rain and wind, trying to do a weather forecast." @SandyGilp, however, wrote: "What is wrong with TV today. Just watching the weather forecast with Alex Beresford standing in Liverpool in a storm (we have never seen one before!!!). Can’t make out what he is saying-Why??? If they are not knee deep in floods, they are slipping on ice."

And Alex clearly saw the messages as he took to Twitter to say: "Thanks for the concern guys but I’m safe and well," adding a crying laughing emoji as he saw the funny side of the worrying.

Following Alex's message, fans were quick to respond. Hollyoaks star Annie Wallace was among those writing back and showed her support, writing: "Maybe, Alex, but it's a bit cruel and needless.... take care." @MrsLankymart also said: "I did feel sorry for you Alex your little hands were soaked! Glad you’re safe."

Others, however, were a bit annoyed by the effect the weather had on the report. @Jellan_ said: "A fabulous effort, but honestly didn’t hear a word." @Laurella34 commented: "The weather changed so quickly. Needed the cover for your mic, couldn’t hear a thing! Bless ya." @SamMackas1 complained: "That forecast was a complete waste of time and had rubbish sound."

Alex's return to TV screens comes after he tied the knot with fiancee Imogen McKay in a stunning ceremony. The dad-of-one and his new wife were introduced on a blind date in August 2020 after being set up by a mutual friend. Alex revealed he had proposed to Imogen, 29, in April, explaining he popped the question on New Year’s Day while the couple were walking along the beach in Majorca.

Speaking to Hello! magazine about the wedding, which involved a clifftop ceremony at the Son Marroig estate, Alex said: "I was blown away by the beauty of it all. One of my cousins said it was like being in a movie and it really was. It was incredible from start to finish. But most importantly, it was where I was marrying the woman I love."
