ITV Good Morning Britain's Adil Ray under fire from viewers as habit comes back to haunt him

Adil Ray has come under fire from Good Morning Britain viewers as an old habit came back to haunt him. The presenter and actor returned to the ITV news programme on Thursday (October 20) alongside Kate Garraway. Much of the talk was centred on the ongoing government chaos as Liz Truss continues to fight for her job.

Adil and Kate were joined on the latest edition of the show by Kirsty Buchanan, the former advisor to Liz Truss, and former political adviser to senior Labour Party politicians, Ayesha Hazarika, about the shocking events that unfolded in the House of Commons on Wednesday. It came after the Government won a vote in Parliament on fracking it had earlier told Tory MPs it was treating as a confidence vote.

As well as the unfolding turmoil in the Tory goverment, the GMB hsots and their guests also discussed the latest reports on the energy crisis, with Ayesha labelling it a "car crash". But as she tried to give her views on the home secretary Suella Braverman resigning, she was interrupted by both Kate and Adil.

Kate, 55, said: "To be fair to her, she is sticking to the manifesto the government was elected on by the people, by keeping those rules stricter. We're in a situation now where the Home Secretary resigns by sticking to her personal beliefs." But Ayesha cut in: "The thing is, Kate, there's a thing called collective responsibility. So you're not there to freelance giving it a big one about your own personal feelings."

Adil tried to interrupt his guest by putting his hand up, before she continued: "The other thing which is really important here, is she humiliated herself the day before in the chamber with this pathetic... She thought was really hilarious with tofu eating...I mean, get with a programme that is a joke from the comedy circuit from like the 1980s.

"But the other thing she was going on and on about was the anti-growth coalition. If she is against liberalising immigration rules..." Adil again tried to butt in but Ayesha was able to continue with her point. However, attempts to get a word in from Adil didn't go unnoticed by GMB viewers.

@thuggypuff tweeted: "Does Adil ever be quiet to let his guests talk or even let Kate speak instead of his constant arguing and shouting at people." penny1992 fumed: "Can that man not let people speak? Trying to be the new Morgan, not even close." @brendan14371325 complained: "Why have guests on the show and just interrupt and talk over them. Very unprofessional." @MrKillingtonSir added: "Get over yourself Adil Trying to be the new piers? Stop flaming ranting and not letting people speak."

And it's not the first time the habit has been picked up by viewers. Back in April, Kate and Adil were joined on the programme by snowboarder Tim Blakey who shared the shocking story of when he plummeted 15ft while out on his own but survived to tell the tale.

As Tim explained how he remembered a trick with his phone that enabled him to call for help, Adil interrupted talking about his own phone, before Tim was able to carry on. While viewers were enjoying listening to Tim's remarkable story, others were left frustrated by the constant interruptions - something that had been plaguing the show that week.
