ITV Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid fights back tears in emotional scenes

Watch the heartwarming moment that Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid fought back her emotions on the ITV morning show today.

Susanna and her fellow host Ben Shephard watched on asNazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was finally reunited with her daughter after six years, as reported by BirminghamLive.

Host Susanna said: “Richard Ratcliffe made the decision to openly campaign, to go on hunger strike. He had been warned it could risk Nazanin’s life and the risk that he took in order to speak out was hugely courageous and as a result brought everyone with him.

"As the huge response from viewers comes in, everyone’s invested.

"We’ve also seen the risks of misspeaking about it, Boris Johnson as foreign secretary, one wrong word.

“Richard must have been walking on eggshells the entire time, worried about saying the right thing. He has done absolutely the right thing at every stage. Absolutely brilliant work.”

The local MP to Richard and wife Nazanin has also praised the man for going public with the campaign to free his wife from Iran.

Tulip Siddiq said that when Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was first detained in 2016, Mr Ratcliffe was advised by the Foreign Office to stay quiet.

Speaking on the BBC Radio 4 Today show, Tulip said: "When Richard first came to me he was very clear about the fact that the Foreign Office had said to him he must stay quiet and he can't talk about his wife's detention.

"But he said after not having any news from Nazanin because she was in solitary confinement right at the beginning, he felt he had no choice but to go public.

"Some people might disagree with this and the Foreign Office told us many times 'We could have got Nazanin out earlier if you didn't make such and song and dance about this' but Richard disagreed with that.

"Throughout the course of the years, I think I have come round to thinking about Richard and thinking he was probably right.

"I think we did put pressure on particularly the current Prime Minister by being so vocal and public and campaigning."

You can watch Susanna Reid present on Good Morning Britain on ITV from 6am onwards, every weekday.
