Adil Ray clashed with work and pension secretary Thérèse Coffey on Friday's Good Morning Britain.
The TV host and politician were discussing the cost-of-living crisis and rising energy bills.
Adil, 48, and co-host Charlotte Hawkins welcomed the MP on to the ITV show and started to put her in the spotlight over the UK Government's actions to help vulnerable members of the community.
Charlotte began the segment by saying: "Experts are warning that energy bills could hit £5,000 next April but no new plans to help ease the cost of living crisis have been announced," before inviting Ms Coffey into the conversation.
"Well Charlotte, help is put in place now and indeed £400 will be going to every household within the next month," Ms Coffey explained as she revealed she had stayed in government over the summer to deal with such issues.
"Anything that's gonna be put through the welfare system will need new legislation which we have delivered in the past and will be need to done again," she added. Adil then jumped in and said: "Thérèse Coffey, there will be some people watching this now thinking you're just not treating this seriously..." as she butted in and told him: "I'm treating it very seriously Adil, I don't know what you're saying."

Adil fired back: "I don't think you are! People's bills could rise up to £5,000, millions of people are already in debt, piling up debts, these people don't have any skin the game here, but you're talking about growth, the economy, people want answers now. Isn't it a fact that you guys are playing party politics with this?"
"Not at all Adil," Ms Coffey replied, before adding: "I find it really insulting. We've already committed to a 15 billion pound package, work is going across people still in government now..." Adil raged: "But it's not enough!" as Charlotte stayed silent beside him as Ms Coffey attempted to have her say.
When the interview finished, Charlotte had a joke with Adil as he admitted: "It was like being at school!" GMB viewers had a lot to say about the exchange and took to Twitter to comment.
"#GMB #adil and #charlotte being schooled by #Thérèse Coffey. Hilarious!" one person posted.
Another tweeted: "Oh dear Thérèse Coffey, made herself look like an absolute deluded clown this morning! Such an awful Tory Government mouthpiece. Adil Ray got under her skin! Lol #GMB."
A third person added: "#GMB Good on Adil for calling her out. All theses politicians just do is talk and talk what they plan to do people need to action now. Got bunch of selfish people running the country they've got the money to pay their bills the crisis isn't affecting them."
