ITV fans fear one Chaser has been 'sacked' from quiz show

The Chase has left some fans concerned that a Chaser has been 'sacked' from the show after failing to make an appearance in the new episodes.

ITV’s popular quiz show challenges four strangers to try and outsmart one of the Chasers in a bid to win a sum of cash.

The show is presented by Bradley Walsh, and currently sees six Chasers take on contestants one by one.

Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace, Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan and Darragh 'the Menace' Ennis use their encyclopaedic knowledge to stop players walking away with a cash prize.

But fans have been fearing that the newest Chaser, Darragh, has already been axed from the show.

One viewer tweeted: "Has Darragh just not recorded many post-lockdown episodes? This is ridiculous."

Another said: "The new guy is never on..!!"

And a third commented: "Have they sacked The Menace?"

"Darragh please! I can’t remember when he was last on..." said another.

"Was hoping for Darragh today. He hasn't been on at all since the show came back," added another.

But Darragh has spoken out on the rumours, tweeting: "Sigh. I've not been sacked. The nature of random scheduling means sometimes we don't have a show air for a little while, and sometimes we're on 2 or 3 times in a week."

One viewer asked why the episodes are aired out of order, he replied: "Not my department but it can be to ensure a mix of wins and losses each week. Sometimes they move a show if a question is there about someone who e.g. died recently. But not my gig, the schedulers and producers have a very tough job tbh. Heroes all."

The Chase continues weekdays on ITV at 5pm.
