ITV fans divided on broadcasters decision to air The Masked Dancer and The Voice

ITV viewers are divided over the broadcasters latest decision to still air Saturday night programmes.

Many people love to unwind in front of the telly on a weekend and it is something people feared they may not be able to do this weekend. ITV and BBC stopped all regular programming over the past couple of days to provide live coverage and the latest updates surrounding the sad news that Queen Elizabeth II had died.

Her death has provoked an outpouring of grief both across the nation and the rest of the world. Following it, millions also looked on this morning as Prince Charles was ascended to the throne.

But earlier today, ITV confirmed that it would be showing The Masked Singer and The Voice straight after. Some TV watchers were displeased by the decision and made their thoughts clear on Twitter.

One user said: "As a mark of respected I've just switched off the Masked Dancer #maskeddancer #TheMaskedDancer." Another user said: "Completely insensitive. #Themaskeddancer."

However, many others disagreed and were pleased with the availability of escapism. One user said: "Finally something on TV that isn't queen related and is fun and normal!! #themaskeddancer."

Cian said: "Time for #TheMaskedDancer thank goodness it's still on, we need a bit of escapism from the depressing tone of the news right now." Gary said: "#TheMaskedDancer great to watch some light hearted Saturday night tele... @petercrouch on the panel lovely stuff. Top bloke."

Meanwhile, before The Masked Dancer began, ITV announced that the show had been pre-recorded.
