Emmerdale fans were taken aback as they discovered Patrick Mower's real age.
The actor is renowned for his portrayal of Rodney Blackstock in Emmerdale. The soap star made his first appearance in the soap in 2000 and has been a mainstay in the Yorkshire Dales ever since.
The character has been through a turbulent time on the ITV show after he was introduced as Bernice Blackstock's estranged dad. He has endured a rollercoaster love life as he attempted to rekindle his romance with Diane Sugden.

The character now enjoys a more settled role in the soap as he a barista at Cafe Main Street. Faith Dingle appeared in the cafe in tonight's episode alongside Sarah Sugden.
The character has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer and has resolved to life live to the fullest before she dies. She told Rodney that she wanted to order every cake in the shop as part of her vow.
Viewers following the scene on Twitter were distracted Patrick Mower's ageless appearance after they discovered he was 83 years old.
Chris said: "Patrick Mower (Rodney) is 83"
Sonia responded: "Goodness."
Marilyn added: "Nooooo really?"
