ITV Emmerdale viewers beg for show to go back to normal after 'pointless' episode

ITV Emmerdale fans were "bored" with the latest lockdown episode, wishing for the return of the old formula.

The popular soap has been airing special edition two-handers, featuring just two characters, in a bid to comply with social distancing rules and keep staff safe.

But viewers were fed up with the new style of episodes.

Tonight's episode focused on Paddy and Chas and the strain a relationship can be under during these trying times.

Soap fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

Pamela said: "haven’t watched this for years...and after this weird one on one nonsense tonight...wont be watching it again for many more years either!"

Selina said: "Is this another boring lockdown Ep".

Amanda said: "I don’t like these lockdown Emmerdale’s".

Robert added: " #emmerdale if this is the best you can do,don't bother."

Some fans spotted the actors were clearly keeping a two metre distance.

One viewer said: "Normally he kiss her or hug her you can really see the two meter rule".

Kaitlyn added: "These lockdown episodes are kinda boring. I'm switching off until filming goes back to normal and when they don't have to make it obvious that they're trying to social distance. It looks bl***y ridiculous on camera."

Clare commented: "Why are they distancing when they live together. These lockdown episodes are pointless."

But other fans praised the soap for ensuring episodes didn't go off air, with the actors' performances also being lauded as "brilliant".
