ITV Emmerdale update as Debbie Dingle's future confirmed

Debbie Dingle will not be returning to Emmerdale this year.

The Dingle, played by Charley Webb, left the soap at the start of the year following the breakdown of her relationship with Al Chapman.

It had been rumoured she would return to the Dales again this Christmas, but in yesterday's episode, it was confirmed she wouldn't be back anytime soon.

Chas told Paddy how Debbie wouldn't be with them to celebrate the festive season.

Chas said: "Debbie’s not coming home for Christmas."

“We could go to her? I know Bear’s keen on visiting Scotland?”

It's unlikely Chas will go to Scotland as a big Christmas storyline involving the Woolpack is set to air.

BirminghamLive reports that a source said there are no current plans for Charley to return as Debbie at this time.

Charley's husband, Matthew Wolfenden, who plays David in the soap said back in summer: “To be honest filming there at the moment with Covid regulations is tough.

“Everyone's rallied round and made it what it is. But yeah. I think for her to go back now when all this is still happening is not what she wants to do.

"I think she'll wait until all the restrictions have dropped."
