ITV Emmerdale under fire as fans call out 'disappearing' character

Emmerdale was under fire after fans questioned the whereabouts of a "disappearing" character on tonight's show.

Wednesday's edition of the long-running soap continued to explore the blossoming romance between Meena Jutla and Billy Fletcher.

The show's resident villain has turned her attention after she was jilted by David Metcalfe for Victoria Sugden.

Billy is newly single after he was ditched by girlfirend Dawn Taylor who didn't want him to be embroiled in the Malone murder plot.

The character played by Jay Kontzle still has feelings for his ex-girlfriend, but Meena warned Dawn to stay away from Billy in last night's edition.

Meena told Dawn how Billy had said he wanted to move on from her, which paved the way for the manipulative villain to swoop.

Dawn was devastated when she spotted the two together in tonight's episode and sought the advice of a returning character for help.

Harriet Finch was discussing Dawn's relationship woes in a number of scenes throughout the programme and urged Dawn to give Billy another chance.

She said: "I'm not condoning his actions but there are mitigating circumstance. Don't give up on him just yet."

It was a first time the village vicar had appeared on our screens for a while and fans on Twitter took to the social media platform to question where Harriet had been.

Matthew said: "Has Harriet just come back from the cellar again?"

Doreen added: "Is Harriet working as a spy now? Is that why she keeps b*******g off with no explanation?

Lily commented: "A rare appearance from Harriet."

Jordan tweeted : "Harriet keeps on disappearing"

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV and ITVHub with an extra episode on Thursdays at 8pm
