ITV Emmerdale star Claire King teases Kim Tate's fate as she jokes she's 'been in Spain'

Emmerdale's 50th anniversary episode on a big cliffhanger with multiple lives hanging in the balance as a windstorm took hold of the village. On Sunday night (October 16), an hour-long edition of Emmerdale to mark the soap's five decades on air saw Kim and Will's wedding finally take place.

But in between the grand nuptials, the weather took a turn for the worse, and one by one, the much-loved villagers faced challenges both mentally and physically. And by the end of the dramatic episode, fans of the ITV soap saw Kim Tate and Harriet Finch both in mortal peril.

Emmerdale legend Claire King has joked that the soap 'almost finished her off' after being thrust into the 50th-anniversary drama. The actress, who has played Kim Tate in the ITV soap on-and-off for 33 years, has found her place in the Dales at risk after a windstorm hit the beloved village.

With the wedding over and the reception ready to begin, the storm continued to worsen, and back at Home Farm, Lydia arrived and asked for help in the search for pregnant Amelia who has gone into labour alone outside the village. In a bid to help, viewers saw Kim step up to saddle with her horse ready to go looking for Amelia in the storm.

She then took off on her horse, Ice, to ride to the rescue in the storm. But again, she came face-to-face with Harriet who had been squashed when she plunged down a ravine followed by the quad bike she was riding in search of Amelia.

It ended with Kim and Harriet lying lifeless after a fork of lightning struck the quad throwing them both and Kim hitting her head on a stone, leaving viewers wondering if either of them will be able to escape the storm. And now Claire King, who has played Kim for more than 30 years, has teased whether her character will survive the soap's 'deadly' storm.

Speaking about the fallout if anything happens to Harriet, played by Katherine Dow Blyton, the actress told the Manchester Evening News and other press: "Will's not going to be too happy because they've had this little 'I love you' thing going on and Kim does suspect there's something going on between Harriet and Will.

"So I think Will could blame Kim for whatever happens to Harriet." She then cheekily added with a laugh: "But I'd also like to add, I had a lovely time in Spain so it might be Kim that goes."

When asked about her fondest memories of working on Emmerdale as it celebrates its 50th anniversary, Claire couldn't help but share another cheeky laugh. "I think when we were doing two a week," she laughed. "Six a week is killing me! In the old days, it was a smaller cast. Now, you can go now without seeing someone for two years, it's just ridiculous.

"But I mean, it's still got a very good work ethic. We do work hard and I'll say it's still the best soap. I've worked on quite a few others and it is the best soap."
