ITV Emmerdale fans question missing witnesses and charges in Meena Jutla court scenes

Meena Jutla finally faced her plea hearing during latest scenes on Emmerdale but as predicted, it wasn't as straight-forward as it could have been. The serial killer nurse was charged by the police with a string of offenses last month after her secret terrorisation of the village came to light and she was finally caught for her horrific crimes.

Since then viewers of the ITV soap have watched as Meena continued to try and pull strings behind bars by getting vicar Charles Anderson to visit her so she could seek forgiveness before telling him she'd only confess to more of her wrongdoing if she got a visit from her sister, Manpreet, who she also held against her will and almost killed.

When tempers flared in the visiting room, Meena told Manpreet that she'd do the right thing - before trying to set her up for Andrea Tate's death. However, her claims were soon scuppered and all the attention turned to her plea hearing which aired during Thursday's hour-long edition of the ITV soap.

With many of her surviving victims, including Manpreet and Leyla Cavanagh, watching on, Meena was told she faced 18 indictments and needed to enter her plea to each one.

But while things got off to a good start when she pleaded guilty to some of her lesser offenses - in the grand scheme of things - she ended up pleading not guilty for the murders of Ben Tucker, Leanna Cavanagh and Andrea Tate in another twist to the storyline.

The emotion of it all ended up getting too much for Leyla who stood up from the stands and called Meena a liar and a murderer but as they all ushered her out, it was Liam Cavanagh who was left fearing he'd never get justice for the death of his daughter, Leanna.

Manpreet was also taken aback and ended up succumbing to the pressure as she felt that Meena's fate and their justice depended on her.

She ended up suffering a panic attack in the church, witnessed by Charles, and she admitted: "I can't do it, I can't testify!" and the episode ended with Manpreet disappearing off with no one able to get hold of her.

But, while taking in the latest twist and turns, Emmerdale fans were quick to point out that there were other people who could help testify against Meena, not just Manpreet.

@Stueh93 tweeted: "#emmerdale why isnt Vinny involved in this trial? He should be a witness."

"Isn’t Vinny a witness as well #Emmerdale," @DionPetrie echoed.

@Savvi6 also asked: "Why has vinny not been called as a witness? #Emmerdale."

"'I just feel like the onus is on me now to get the conviction. I'm the star witness! I'm the only witness who can tell them everything she did' What about Vinny? Doesn't he know just as much as Manpreet If only Charles wasn't bound by the whole priest confession #Emmerdale," @griannedoherty2 said.

@ifeelflames added: "I know Manpreet is the only one who Meena confessed to, but surely Vinnie and Liam are both testifying about the events of the kidnapping too? There seems to be no mention of that #emmerdale."

However, some pointed out that this is just a plea hearing and not a trial... yet.

Not only were viewers questioning the witnesses, they were also asking where some of Meena's other charges had got to.

@griannedoherty2 commented: "Wait, no mention of the attempted murder of Vinny, Victoria or Harriet? Or did they just cut that part? To be fair was a helluva lot of counts to actually get through. Over 18 in fact #Emmerdale."

"Whay about holding Vinny hostage then or Vickys attempted murder. Or do we just pretend they never happened #emmerdale," @sukavi2011 tweeted.
