ITV Emmerdale fans divided by Marlon’s ‘pathetic’ reaction to police

ITV Emmerdale fans were divided tonight by Marlon Dingle’s “pathetic” reaction to the police showing up at his door.

As Marlon approached his cottage, a police car pulled up and two officers got out wanting to speak to him.

Marlon rushed to get inside, looking panic-stricken, as police knocked on his door.

The officers were there to question him about Mandy’s charity funds.

In a later scene, after approaching Mandy, a policewoman said: “We’ve had information you may be involved in the misappropriation of charity funds.”

Police then asked Mandy to make a statement and told her she wasn’t being arrested, though they were looking for “a bit of co-operation”.

Fans took to  Twitter  to discuss Marlon’s reaction to seeing the police following his false imprisonment.

One viewer said: "Poor Marlon, one look at a police officer & he thinks they're going to put him back in prison.”

Kaza said: “Jeez...what’s happening to Marlon here now, hasn’t he suffered enough already!”

Laura added: “I just want to see Marlon back in the pub in his chef's whites, making sarky comments to a lazy Charity and bigging up his menus.

“But I only say that because I want to see the character happy.”

Though some viewers thought his reaction was unwarranted.

Alexandra said: “This episode has mainly been about Marlon 'I went to prison for 5 minutes and nearly died' Dingle.”

Another viewer said: “Does anyone actually feel sorry for Marlon?”

Dion said: “I can’t believe Marlon is acting like this he was only in jail for a few weeks.”

And another commented: “This Marlon story is now one of the most pathetic stories of recent years.”

In later scenes, Paddy told Marlon: “Freaking out because the police turned up, after what you’ve been through? I don’t blame you.”

Marlon then revealed he had chest pains and shortness of breath and the episode ended with Paddy holding him up, saying he needed to go to hospital.

*Emmerdale will air on ITV on Friday at 7pm
