Emmerdale fans were left unimpressed as Harriet Finch was laid to rest. Viewers of the ITV soap have already seen the heartbreaking double funeral of Faith and Liv Dingle last week but on Thursday night (November 3), all attention turned to the police officer's final farewell.
Harriet was one of two victims of the terrifying windstorm that swept the Yorkshire village last month. The village's former vicar succumbed to her injuries after being flung down a ravine and crushed by the quad bike she was riding in the woods in search of pregnant Amelia Spencer who had gone into labour in the middle of nowhere.
Harriet was able to be dragged from the quad bike by Kim Tate, but as viewers started to see petrol spilling from the vehicle, it was struck by a lightning bolt and caused and explosion that caught Harriet and Kim in its wake. While Kim, played by Claire King, got away with a bang on the head, Harriet lost her life leading to Katherine Dow-Blyton's exit from Emmerdale.

Last week, as the Dingles and other villagers gathered to say their final goodbyes to Faith, who took her own life amid her terminal cancer diagnosis, and Liv, who was struck by a caravan in the adverse weather and couldn't be saved, there were questions over Harriet and whether she had been forgotten.
So fans were pleased to see that Harriet was getting her final send-off during the latest trip to the Dales. Her former partner Will Taylor, his daughter Dawn Fletcher and their family were seen ready to attend the funeral but they weren't seen again until later during the wake at The Hide.
But Emmerdale viewers were quick to comment on social media as much of Harriet's funeral happened off-screen, leading to many suggesting the character 'deserved better'.
@RyanGSoapKing11 tweeted: "Harriet's funeral deserved to be half an episode at least - shame especially after Faith and Liv's brilliant funeral last week. #Emmerdale." @JamieTVandNews commented: "Harriet deserves better than a non-funeral #Emmerdale." @buckland_emma wrote: "Harriet not getting a proper on screen funeral. She was a main character for 9 years! I give up! #Emmerdale."
@Simy_78 posted: "So Harriet doesn’t even get an on screen funeral. They’ve really done that character a disservice. Do better #Emmerdale." @maxted_jo asked: "Why's poor Harriet's death and funeral been so overlooked? Noone seems upset,poor Harriet #emmerdale." @Tubzy2001 added: "We don’t get to see Harriet’s funeral? That’s c**p #Emmerdale."
Scenes later in the hour-long episode saw Amelia makes an emotional speech before PC Swirling took over and shared his heartache over his colleague and friend's death. And things got too much for Harriet's partner Dan who had one too many drinks before starting to worry that Harriet didn’t even like him to Will, who lied and said she loved him despite her confessing her true feelings for Will before his wedding to Kim.
