ITV Emmerdale fans beg 'please' as they're left baffled by Nicky and Caleb detail and work out pair's downfall

Emmerdale fans have been left baffled by Nicky and Caleb days after their true identity was exposed. Despite being suspicious of the pair since they made separate arrivals into the village back in December, viewers of the ITV soap were surprised to learn that they are father and son.

But their jaws really hit the floor when it was revealed that Caleb is the son of the late Frank Tate and befriending his dad's late wife Kim Tate is all part of his plan to claim back his birth right, Home Farm. Earlier this week, not knowing his real identity, viewers saw Kim, played by Claire King, revealed to Caleb that she had been sent a legal letter from the "illegitimate" child of the late Frank, wanting to get his hands on some inheritance.

Her conversation with husband her Will Taylor was overheard by Caleb, who wasted no time in making it clear he had heard what they were talking about and complained about Kim "hiding money in Tate business". He even threatened to pull out of the current stud farm deal because of the potential issues that could lie ahead, prompting Kim to reveal all and even suggest offering to transfer money directly to him so the stud farm purchase could be entirely in his name.

He wasted no time in agreeing to the plan, leaving Kim thinking she was about to come out on top of the inheritance claim against Frank's unknown child. Meanwhile, Caleb has instructed Nicky, who was employed as Home Farm's new nanny before being sacked - then reinstated - over his relationship with Gabby Thomas, to encourage his new partner to set a date for their wedding after he popped the question.

Also during Tuesday's episode (April 11), Caleb spoke of a solicitor he's enlisted the help of to target Kim without her knowing. And while Kim is working to ensure her assets are safe as she turns to Caleb for his help and insists he will be the best person to look after her money, Emmerdale fans have been left begging 'please'.

@immayo1 said: "Please, please tell me Kim knows what's going on and is just stringing them along. #emmerdale." @Bu71954521Tracy commented: "No no no Kim would have already sussed Caleb #emmerdale." @JordanPhelps21 joked: "You dare ruin Kim’s character and I’ll start protesting! #Emmerdale."

Meanwhile, fans think they have worked out what will be Nicky and Caleb's downfall and it falls to an item in Home Farm - the baby monitor. Nicky, played by Lewis Cope, has already overheard Kim's conversations through the tech and relayed the information back to his dad.

But viewers think his snooping through the guise of being the family's nanny could backfire. @jojobear_82 tweeted: "I reckon the baby monitor will be the downfall of Caleb and Nicky #emmerdale." @paulkop69 replied: "Haha I just said the same thing." @JeanieThePixie wrote: "Someone is going to overhear Nicky talking to Caleb over the baby monitor #emmerdale." @page_lace30 added: "That baby monitor is a big clue to what will happen, #emmerdale."

Fans are also confused by a particular detail when it comes to Caleb and Nicky - their different accents. While it can be completely plausible that Nicky was brought up in the North East while his dad is from Yorkshire leading to their different tones, viewers have still commented on social media including @st3v3_b who said: "How is the son so Geordie when the dad is so Mancunian?" And @lynn_alison_ who added: "The accents are confusing me. Faith I don't know where she was from. Caleb is a scouser and Nickey is a Geordie!!"
