ITV drama Innocent has viewers 'going mad' and it's down to one thing

Viewers were left 'going mad' as Innocent kicked off on ITV on Monday night.

With production on many shows being shut down due to coronavirus, repeats are now commonplace in TV schedules and weeks after a re-run of 2013 series A Mother's Son left viewers with a serious sense of deja-vu, Innocent did the same.

Innocent, with a cast led by Hermione Norris and Lee Ingelby, was first commissioned by ITV in 2016 before hitting screens two years later in 2018.

The drama tells the compelling story of David Collins who is living a nightmare after being jailed for seven years after killing his wife.

But some people who tuned into Monday's first episode couldn't quite decide if Innocent was new or if they'd watched it first time round.

After sitting through most of it, another tweeted using an angry emoji to write: "Just realised it's a repeat!"

One reacted: "Am I going mad or have I seen this before?" and another tweeted: " #Innocent this is a repeat isn't it? How many minutes in before I realise I gave up on it last time?"

Others hit out at ITV for showing a repeat, with one posting: "ITV getting a bit desperate with these series repeats on the 9pm slot," and another agreed, tweeted: "Yet ANOTHER REPEAT by ITV, and they wonder why people are switching to Netflix."

Innocent continues every night on ITV until Thursday at 9.15pm.
