ITV Dancing On Ice viewers fume after show is halted for 'breaking news'

Dancing On Ice returned to our television screens on Sunday night but viewers were left less than impressed when the popular ITV programme was brought to a stop for "breaking news".

This week the skaters celebrated Movie Week with The Vivienne putting on a performance to Mary Poppins, while Coronation Street's Mollie Gallagher skated to Ghostbusters.

It was just before her routine that those watching at home were taken to the ITV News studio, where presenter Lucrezia Millarini made an announcement as she warned of paranormal activities.

Mollie and her pro-dance partner Sylvain Longchambon then took to the rink. However, fans of the show were left less than impressed, writes Liverpool Echo.

Many have branded the segment "insensitive" following the discovery of a body yesterday in the search for missing mum Nicola Bulley.

Fans were left feeling annoyed (ITV)

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: " "Not sure #dancingonice that the Breaking News segment was in good taste with everything going on"

Another said: "I did not like that dance at all… the news interruption wasn’t funny I didn’t think it was funny I thought it was rather rude of them regarding a serious case. not me getting scared that was a legit breaking news broadcast"

A third added: "funny joke @ITV?? yeh let’s put a breaking news in the middle of the show even though there’s some awful stories in the news atm"

And a fourth penned: "Cor did anyone else’s bum go with that “breaking news” before the ghostbusters dance? My first thought was “what now?"
