ITV Dancing On Ice: Davide Sanclimenti updates fans on Ekin-Su after she ends up in first skate-off

Love Island champion Davide Sanclimenti has shared his thoughts on girlfriend Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu being in this year’s first Dancing On Ice skate-off. After performing for the first time on the ITV show on Sunday, January 15, Ekin-Su and partner Brendyn Hatfield scored 21.5 points for a routine to Britney Spears’ Toxic. The pair will go head to head with one of the other celebrity couples, next Sunday, in order to stay in the contest. The decision was criticised by viewers - You can read more about that here.

Speaking to Suzanna Reid and Ed Balls on Good Morning Britain, Davide said: “I was in the audience, I watched her live and not because she’s my girlfriend but I believed that she smashed it.

“The fact that she’s in the skate-off, she’s a bit sad. Last night, we had a long talk but she’s a strong woman, very determined and knows what she wants. I think this will now push her to push herself to be better and better week-by-week,” he added.

Davide suggested that the skate-off will be 'good' for Ekin-Su (ITV)

He continued: “I think this is going to be good for her. She will push herself more and more and even if now, she was a bit sad the first couple of hours but she will go for it.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Davide also discussed the possibility of doing Dancing On Ice next year. “Next year, we’ll see. I think that this is the year of Ekin and I’m going to be there to support her and then next year, if I have the opportunity then I hope she will be there to support me,” he said.

Davide and Ekin-Su found fame after winning Love Island last year. The pair ultimately chose to split their £50,000 prize winnings and have stayed together to this day. Following their victory, the couple have continually updated fans on their relationship on social media and even landed their own reality TV show, Ekin-Su & Davide: Homecomings.

Find out if Ekin-Su survives on Dancing On Ice next Sunday, January 22 on ITV1 at 6.30pm. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
