ITV Corrie's Simon Barlow actor shares update from hospital after injury

Coronation Street star Alex Bain has given an update on an injury from hospital. Alex, 20, who plays Corrie's Simon has been keeping his followers on Instagram informed on his progress.

The soap star previously shared pictures as he sat in a wheelchair at Royal Blackburn Hospital A&E department a couple of weeks ago before he jetted off on holiday. He showed his injury being supported by a medical boot as he explained: "Don’t worry guys it’s just my ankle."

Alex, who has played Simon in Corrie since 2008, has given his 21,000 Instagram followers an update as he revealed that his ankle is still strapped up. He shared a picture from the fracture clinic at the Royal Blackburn Hospital showing him wearing the moon boot.

He said: "Update on the ankle: I'm at the fracture clinic having a check up and X Ray to see how it is doing!" And Alex promised: "I will keep you all updated!"

Alex thanked fans for their support as he told them he would have to go back in four weeks. But he reassured that it was good news and the clinic is pleased with his progress.

He wrote: "Quick update again! I have to go back in four weeks time to have it checked again. However they're pleased with the progress so all is well for me!"

Alex added: "Should be healed soon enough guys! Thanks for all your love and support!" The star then opened up his messages to fan questions and answers as he added: "If anyone has any questions for me then ask away below."

Last year his character was at the centre of a harrowing storyline after the tragic death of his adoptive mum Leanne Battersby's three-year-old son Oliver. To support the pair during his mum's grief Simon was roped into drug dealing by a dangerous gang, leading the teen and Leanne to end up in witness protection.

Asked if there were future storylines coming up for Simon he said: "Hopefully so soon enough!" Asked how it felt to have been on Corrie for 14 years he said he felt 'so lucky' to be part of it.
