ITV Corrie's Peter Barlow actor Chris Gascoyne makes rare appearance on evening out with co-stars

Coronation Street star Chris Gascoyne delighted fans as he made a rare appearance alongside a few of his co-stars during an evening out in Greater Manchester. The actor, who is best known for playing Peter Barlow in the ITV soap, didn't appear to be present at the soap's summer party last month.

But he is still very much a big part of the Salford-based soap's clan and appeared for a drink with Millie Gibson, Samia Longchambon, Mikey North, Daniel Brocklebank and some other guests at one of the quayside bars at Media City.

Daniel, who plays Billy Mayhew in the long-running programme, took to Instagram to share a snap of the group relaxing quayside as the sun started to set in the background. "These guys," he wrote in the caption alongside a red heart emoji.

Corrie's Todd Grimshaw actor Gareth Pierce, who celebrated two years since his debut on the cobbles earlier this week, was among the first to comment, writing: "Beauts," with a love-heart eye emojis and a beer and sunshine icon, too. Millie, who stars as Kelly Neelan in the soap, added: "G orgeous lot," while Maria Windass actress Samia simply added a heart and s miling face with heart-eyes emoji.

Fans were also commenting too with @versace.the.afghanhound writing: "We love you all! (even those faces we don’t know!)." @patlally1 wrote: "The dream team." @l_sneddon commented: "Must be great to have workmates like this."

Last month, Chris, who has appeared on the cobbles as Peter for more than 20 years, surprised fans as they took part in a special 'Star Tours' version of the 90 minute tour of the MediaCityUK set. In addition to seeing the landmarks including Roy's Rolls, Audrey's hair salon, Weatherfield Police Station and the legendary boozer Rovers Return, soap watchers can say hello to a mystery cast member on the tour as well as hearing filming secrets and stories and posing for a picture with them.

But they have no idea who it is until they arrive. Chris was the first to make an appearance on the special tours, which are taking place for the first time in two years due to the coronavirus pandemic. The first off the sell-out limited edition tours saw the Corrie legend emerge through the doors of the TV police station to meet waiting fans. And Chris was greeted with delighted cheers and claps and cries of 'Peter.'

"You were the one we wanted," called out one fan to the 54-year-old actor. "Aw that's nice," he thanked them. "I was just going to say I'm sorry Ken Barlow couldn't be here," he joked. He was also heard reflecting on his time on the soap and how he came to join Corrie as the seventh actor to play Peter. He told tour guests that he was only originally meant to be in the show for six months. He got the role after he was in a play at the Royal Exchange Theatre and broke his ankle.

Meanwhile, Daniel's post with a few of his co-stars comes after he was gushing about another of his co-star's and off-screen pal Julia Goulding. The Shona Platt actress was snapped alongside the on-screen vicar as they cosied up for a selfie while in the great outdoors. "This one brings joy," Dan wrote before adding the hashtag 'Camping Buddies'.

Georgia Taylor, who stars as Toyah Habeeb in Corrie, replied: "Now there are two excellent faces," and fans were soon following with their own comments.

@versace.the.afghanhound said: "Wow! Look at those smiles!!" @paulwaz68 wrote: "Two of my favourites." @franceliafarrellanderson added: "I adore Shona have fun," while others flooded the post with red hearts and s miling face with heart-eyes emojis.
