ITV Corrie's Andy Whyment addresses I'm A Celebrity return days after rubbing shoulders with famous DJ

Andy Whyment has addressed his return to I'm A Celebrity.. Get Me Out Of Here - more than three years after fans branded his loss a 'disaster'. The Coronation Street actor first appeared on the ITV reality show in 2019 where he lost out on the crown to former EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa.

Andy, who is famed for playing Kirk Sutherland in the ITV soap, was the hot favourite to win the entire series but after 11 million votes were cast, it wasn't meant to be. But he's back for another go as he joins a number of famous faces from I'm A Celeb's two-decade history competition for 'legend' status.

The all-new I'm A Celebrity... South Africa, which was filmed in September last year, sees the return of some of the most memorable campmates from the popular show in the brand new setting of Kruger National Park and with no public vote, they will be competing against each other in a battle to become the first ever 'I'm A Celebrity Legend'.

And at the end of Tuesday night's episode (April 25), it was read out to the camp by Diversity dancer and TV presenter Jordan Banjo that three new arrivals were waiting to join them - and one of them is Corrie's Andy Whyment who plays Kirk Sutherland. The other two are musician Myleene Klass from the 2006 series and 2017 I'm A Celebrity winner Georgia Toffolo.

"Three new celebs are on their way. It's up to you to decide who will join you for dinner," Jordan read, and former Corrie star Helen smiled when Andy's name was read out. It's now been revealed that the new trio are set to live away from the rest of their campmates.

Toff, who was crowned Queen of the Jungle in Australia in 2017, will be seen in a deserted landscape during the next installment of the competition. The 28-year-old former Made In Chelsea star arrives just as Andy and musician Klass are having refreshments.

The trio are then taken by car to a different location away from the main camp, where US supermodel Janice Dickinson, ex-professional boxer Amir Khan and former Countdown star Carol Vorderman are among the celebrities to have already entered the show.

Former Hear’Say singer turned presenter Klass, known for her famous bikini shower scene during her original run in 2006 when she came second to musician Matt Willis, then reads a Bush Bulletin. The 45-year-old said: "Celebrities, welcome to 'Savannah Scrub' where three celebrities will live separated from the others in main camp."

Meanwhile, Andy took to Instagram on Tuesday night as he confirmed his return to I'm A Celeb to fans. Alongside his official promo snap sporting his jungle gear, despite the new series being filmed in the Sotuh African bush, he wrote: "So I got to do it again and tomorrow night I head in to camp @imacelebrity SOUTH AFRICA on @itv at 9pm."

His Corrie co-stars were quick to support as fans also shared their joy. Joe Duttine, who plays Corrie's Tim Metcalfe, quipped: "But it was only yesterday you were opening a kebab shop in Walkden, get abaht dunt yer." Gareth Pierce, who plays Todd Grimshaw in the ITV soap added: "My man!"

Andy was snapped alongside musician Nathan Dawe (Andy Whyment Instagram)

His appearance on the show comes after he was seen on social media rubbing shoulders with a famous DJ. Over the weekend, Andy took to Instagram with a snap of himself and his wife Nichola with another couple and musician Nathan Dawe." Had a top night @isabelsburton @nathandawe restaurant," Andy started the caption of his post.

"If you’re ever in Burton make sure you go fantastic food, cocktails, service and an all round great atmosphere absolutely loved it." And Nathan, who will be known for a number of track including his 2020 single 'Lighter' featuring KSI, was quick to respond as he wrote in the comments: "Great to see you mate!"
