ITV Corrie favourite Julia Goulding announces pregnancy at The Soap Awards

Coronation Street star Julia Goulding showed off her baby bump as she revealed that she's expecting her second child at The British Soap Awards. Julia, who is best known for playing outspoken Corrie character Shona Platt, proudly cradled her baby bump as she announced the news on the red carpet at the awards ceremony in London.

Julia, 37, looked a far cry from the Weatherfield cobbles in an elegant black gown. Her brunette tresses were styled into a chic bun with loose tendrils and she added a pop of colour with a classic red lip. Last month Julia, from Middleton, attended The Baby Show with her husband Ben Silver at Birmingham NEC, a one-stop shop for products and advice from parenting experts on everything from sleep, weaning, breastfeeding and first aid.

The couple welcomed their son Franklin Wolf Silver in November 2019. Announcing the news she said: "Thank you to the lovely couple in the park who took this picture for us. Taken as I was in early labour on my due date. The next day Ben and I welcomed our baby son into the world. Franklin Wolf Silver born on 30/11/19."

Julia added: "He's changed our lives for the better in every way. I feel like I've known him my whole life." The actress returned to filming in February 2020 after her character suffered a brain injury when she was shot by drunk gunman Derek Milligan.

Shona made a comeback to the soap unable to remember her husband David or any of her life with the Platt family. She has since rebuilt memories and adjusted to life in Weatherfield again.

For a while their relationship appeared to be on the rocks as newcomer Daisy Midgeley had David in her sights. But there was a romantic moment at Christmas 2020 as Gail Platt's youngest son re-enacted their wedding day for her with his children Max and Lily.

Julia has played cafe worker Shona in the soap since 2016. She met and fell for David following the tragic death of his wife Kylie. She settled down Weatherfield but provided a shock for the Platts when she revealed that she was in fact the mother of Clayton Hibbs, the thug who stabbed Kylie to death.

David forgave her shocking secret. But killer Clayton threatened to tear them apart again by asking his mum to help him in prison because he was being bullied by his inmates.
