ITV Corrie fans think they spot mistake as Emma moves to start a new life in Australia

Emma Brooker has left the famous Coronation Street cobbles after finally getting her happy ending. The bubbly barmaid said an emotional goodbye to her friends and family as she headed of to start a new life in Australia with her soulmate Jon Spear.

The pair met through highly unusual circumstances when Emma attended the funeral of his grandfather Ted. Filled with guilt after she and Faye Windass accidentally ran pensioner Ted down on New Year's Day, and later found him dead at his flat when they went to check on him, Emma feared she would lose her beau when he found out the truth.

But in Wednesday night's episode Jon, who has plans to open a beach bar, insisted that he still wanted to move away with her after the pair had fallen quickly and deeply in love. And on Friday night (April 8) jaws dropped as Emma told her family that she was leaving.

In the same episode a taxi pulled up to take them to the airport as Emma said her farewells. But some fans were unsure how realistically this could happen pointing out that she seemed to have sorted a visa at a rapid speed.

Viewers took to Twitter to air their views. @Greg_Phillips_said: In the real world Emma would get deported for not having the correct visa and probably banned from entering Australia! #Corrie." And @cb_038 pointed out: "Emma got her visa quick didn't she."

@Melody81421958 tweeted: "I know it’s not real but god they’re not even trying now. Emma going to Australia tonight. They could’ve said anywhere in the world but they picked the furthest and a country with the strictest visa requirements."

@Accio14Anna asked: "What visa did Emma get for Australia? That allowed her to decide to go with no planning?" And @priya_uk wondered: "How did Emma sort out a visa for Australia so quick?"

@ackpro commented: "No doubt Emma will be back when she is turned back without a visa." And @Song_covers01 tweeted: "Quick question, does Emma need a visa for Aus or us it different in the UK because this is fast."

@cumiskey55 asked about the character, who used to live in Australia with her mum: "Unless Emma is an Australian citizen she’ll need a tourist visa at least to get into Australia." In a video message thanking fans for their support actress Alexandra Mardell, who has played Emma for four years, said 'goodbye for now.'

'"I really have had the best time of my life and I'm so, so grateful," she said. "Goodbye for now and lots of love." Alexandra, who arrived on the famous street as pink-wearing Emma in April 2018, previously said about Emma's exit while keeping the final scenes under wraps: "I'm happy definitely. Yep. It is the right ending."
