ITV Coronation Street viewers left in tears by heartbreaking scenes

Coronation Street viewers have been left in tears as they watched Sinead Tinker's cancer storyline unfold.

The character, played by Katie McGlynn , found out she had terminal cancer last week on her wedding day.

Heartbreaking scenes since have shown her battling the side effects of chemo as she struggles to even hold her baby son, Bertie.

Fans of the show have praised the acting and the way the storyline has been handled, saying the drama has been balanced with a realistic portrayal of the disease.

Tonight we saw Sinead's husband Daniel Osbourne, played by Rob Mallard, ask her if the chemo is really worth it, considering how sick it is making her.

After him speaking about quality of life, not quantity, Sinead said: "I am dying, Daniel, what did you think it would look like?

"That's what you want, me to die quicker? Well, I am sorry to be an inconvenience."

Viewers were left emotional following the episode, one, @GlamMeg said: "Sinead breaking my heart."

Another, @LouiseMacAllis2 said: "These Sinead/Daniel scenes are heartbreaking to watch. Katie & Rob are amazing."

A third, @mishybabez_ added: "Aw Sinead :( This storyline is heartbreaking to watch."

Actress Katie is leaving the show and it is expected Sinead will die around Christmas.

The 27-year-old recently had a leaving party with the cast, where she posed with Sinead's funeral flowers.

*Coronation Street is on ITV1 Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm
