ITV Coronation Street viewers confused over court case decision involving David and Nick as character is jailed

Coronation Street fans were confused over the judge's decision which saw David go down for a crime he didn't commit.

At the beginning of the episode, David told Shona that Nick is planning to tell the truth in court however when the brothers appeared in court Nick went back on his word and blamed his brain injury for his actions, accusing David of being the mastermind behind the theft.

The judge reached a decision and David was given an eight-month sentence and will have to serve at least four months behind bars.

Nick, on the other hand, was given a two-year suspended sentence and managed to soften grandma Audrey.

However, viewers weren't happy with the outcome, citing that Nick's previous convictions and act of perjury should have lead to a prison sentence.

One wrote: Nick: admits to stealing the money and lying in court - The judge: okay no worries go back to the street, have a nice life

"David: admits he was barely involved, how sorry he feels, about his children and how he's giving the barbers back .

"The judge: right okay well you can go to prison."

Another said: "So Nick admits his guilt but David goes to prison?! Sounds about right."

And a third agreed, saying: "So, Nick admits he steals the money.. Lies to the court and was willing to do whatever to get his own way and yet avoids prison.."

However, Nick's sweet talking didn't work on everyone as Sarah told Nick that he may have got Audrey onside but she is not such a pushover and due to his brain injury, Sarah reveals that she’s had Adam draw up the paperwork to have him removed as a director of Underworld on the grounds he’s unfit.
