ITV Coronation Street's Toyah actress Georgia Taylor 'raging' with co-star's character as she brands him a 'snake'

Coronation Street star Georgia Taylor has said she is ‘raging’ with one of her co-star’s characters. It has been revealed today (Tuesday) that Toyah Habeeb was responsible for the crash that killed her husband earlier this year. Viewers of the ITV soap were horrified when Toyah and Imran were involved in a car crash.

It seemingly came after the solicitor confessed to lying about Abi Webster in order to get custody of their surprise son, Alfie. While it was Imran who saved his wife from the wreckage of the car which ploughed into the scaffolding-clad building, he later collapsed and died at the scene from a cardiac arrest.

Toyah is now facing time in prison after being charged with murder. But with her court case fast approaching, her renewed feelings for Spider and protesting, and Imran’s distraught mum, Saira, accusing her of murdering Imran so that she could be with her new boyfriend - things are set to get too much for Toyah and she’ll confess everything that happened in the fateful crash.

After sharing her shock at finding out about her character’s latest twist, Georgia, who mad her debut in the ITV soap in 1997, still appears to be on her character’s side. “Yeah, she did [do it]… I still think it’s a grey area and I still think it’s interesting because she didn't get in the car meaning to kill him or hurt him, absolutely not.

“The way I’m trying to understand it is that she had a few seconds where the red mist descended and she just lost her mind for a second. I guess in the same way someone could punch someone in a moment of rage or despair… I’ve never punched anyone myself so I don’t know exactly what that moment is.”

Speaking about the upcoming trial, which will see Saira and Kelly Neelan testify against her and how much it that is affecting Toyah, Georgia, from Wigan, actually shared her anger at another character.

“It’s all just building up and can we just mention Adam [Barlow, played by Sam Roberton] being an absolute snake as well,” she laughed. “I think Adam’s a total snake in this storyline. All Toyah did was say, ‘Oh, I could kill Imran!’ And that’s it.” She then joked: “I’m raging Adam… raging!”

But what Georgia does, seriously, say is that Toyah has very little support. “Spider’s done a runner, all eight legs of him. She’s basically got Leanne and that’s it. People like Kelly, Adam, Saira are all on her case so it’s not looking great for her is what I’d say.”

And when asked if Toyah was to be sent down for murder does she deserve it, Georgia struggled with an answer. “I don’t know. That’s a really tricky one,” she said. “I’ve said all along I really want a prison storyline because I think it looks so much fun.”

Despite thinking prison scenes will be fun, Georgia does have some better hopes for her character’s future. Asked if Toyah does overcome this, would she like to see Toyah adopt or foster as a single parent, the soap star said: “I think so. I think it’s definitely an option for her and I love that side of her.

“The argument against that is that I’ve always said, we have a responsibility in reflecting all aspects of society - to show a childless woman and to show a childless woman can be happy. That’s something I feel quite strongly about myself. So it might be that she finds fulfilment and joy in something else”

But Georgia then said: “Personally, I just want her to get loads of animals. I want to be filming with cats, dogs, rabbits, a pony… everything.” She then added: “Pigs… She should keep pigs. That’s what I’d like to happen.”
