ITV Coronation Street's Steve McDonald begs for life after armed robber takes him hostage

Steve McDonald's life hangs in the balance next week as he's taken hostage by an armed robber.

With pressure from new cab firm GoLucky mounting, Steve takes to the streets to pick up illegal fares, instead of investing in a Streetcars app.

On Friday next week Steve picks up a young lad who flags him down to take him to hospital to visit his mum and offers to pay a hefty fare.

The young lad asks him to stop at a garage to get some flowers for his mum but all is not what it seems - as the lad turns out to be an armed robber.

With the situation escalating Steve is desperate to escape and pleads for mercy, showing the thug photos of Amy and Oliver.

But will Steve's plan work and will he get away unscathed?

Elsewhere on the Cobbles Carla returns home after being admitted to hospital over her psychotic episodes.

Carla is put on anti psychotic medication and sent home, with Peter promising to look after her at Roy's flat.

But Ken is less than happy, arguing that Peter should concentrate on getting himself better rather than helping Carla first.

Will it all end in tears?

*Coronation Street continues at 7:30pm on Wednesday on ITV
