ITV Coronation Street's Millie Gibson co-star 'love', eyebrow scar and exit date

Millie Gibson is one of Coronation Street's most renowned faces.

The soap star joined the cast of the Cobbles as Kelly Neelan 2019 and has become one of the show's most important characters. Kelly played a significant role in one of the show's most dramatic storylines when she was wrongly imprisoned for the death of Seb Franklin.

The character was set free after the truth was revealed, but she faced an arduous journey to get back onto her feet. She turned to drugs and became homeless before she was finally taken in by Gary and Maria Windass.

However, her turbulent time on the Cobbles will soon come to an end after the 18-year-old confirmed she is set to exit the Cobbles. She said: "Now that the news is out about me exiting the cobbles, I just want to say I've had the most incredible 4 years.

"Growing up here, I've made long-lasting friendships, learnt so much and I am forever grateful for my time and the storylines I have been given. I'm really looking forward to you guys seeing the future episodes coming up and I can't thank @coronationstreet enough for letting me be a small piece in this beautiful family. Kelly Neelan will be a part of my heart always.

"Thank you to you all for being so supportive [heart emoji]." The Corrie crew threw a star-studded leaving bash in celebration of Millie's time on the show earlier this month.

Millie enjoyed close friendships with her cast-members and Tanisha Gorey, who plays Asha Alahan, shared a snap of the two as Millie held her leaving present. She captioned the post: "I’m gonna miss you baby girl

The two are best friends away from the screen with Millie declaring Tanisha as the "love of her life" after the belated Corrie Christmas party in May. Tanisha shared a series a glamorous snaps on her Instagram channels of the soap stars enjoying their evening.

She captioned the post: "Crimbo party only 4 months late :))" Millie rushed to the comments to laud her friend. She said: "That the love of my life ?!"

The two shared the screen together on Friday's episode as Kelly's relationship with Aadi continued to blossom. However, Aadi feared he had ruined everything when Kelly when she overheard him tell Asha they got engaged just to win a competition.

The two reconciled at the end of the episode and got engaged for real. Fans speculated this was the start of an ominous exit storyline as weddings on Corrie never usually go to plan.

Millie's final show has yet to be officially confirmed. However, she has filmed her final scenes and Corrie episodes are usually filmed between 6 - 8 weeks in advance.

This means her leaving storyline is likely to culminate sometime in October, which could coincide with the show's annual Super Soap Week.

Corrie fans will be devastated to see the soap star depart as she has become a fan favourite. However, she once revealed she had doubts over whether she would bag the role.

She said: "There were lots of girls in the waiting room that looked nothing like me. They were all quite well-spoken and I’ve got a bit of a Manc twang in my voice so I was a bit like, ‘Oh no, am I going to have to play her in a different way?’

"But in the end I didn’t because my take on Kelly was while she was a private schoolgirl, I knew she did not quite fit in as the rest of them. So I think not having that well-spoken, posh put-together voice worked quite well."

Many Corrie viewers have noticed Millie's eyebrow during her portrayal of Kelly and some fans assumed it has been deliberately shaved as part of her character. However, Millie's social media profile includes the message: "Before you ask - it's a scar".

Millie enjoys a close relationship with her family and she once spoken about how the talk surrounding this irritates her family. She said: "It is a scar and my dad always gets very frustrated about comments like that because people go, 'she's put it on herself' and my dad's like, 'no she's not!'

"When I was younger - I was about two or three - there's one of my pictures where I look like a right thug.

"I was running through this barn and I whacked my head on the corner of the bannister and apparently my head was massive and it's never really healed but I kind of like it! It definitely works for the character!"
