ITV Coronation Street's Isabella Flanagan on 'heated' competition with soap siblings

Coronation Street's Hope actress Isabella Flanagan has explained how living with other soap stars can become "heated".

The young star is known for playing the role of Hope Stape in the ITV soap - the daughter of Fiz and her serial killer ex John. But she isn't the only famous face in the family.

Some fans may already know but her twin brother William plays Joseph Brown in the long-running Salford-based soap. Meanwhile, their older sister, Amelia, is best recognised for playing April Windsor in TV rival Emmerdale - a role she has held since 2014, reported Manchester Evening News.

All three are regularly applauded for their character portrayals but it's Amelia and Isabella who will be going head-to-head at this year's Inside Soap Awards. The pair are both up for the Best Young Performer award against Amelia's Emmerdale co-star Gabrielle Dowling, who plays Cathy Hope, as well as Isabella's Corrie co-star Jude Riordan, who plays Sam Blakeman.

When Isabella was quizzed on how she felt about competing against her sibling she said it felt "really good" as it is the first award nomination she has ever received. She told Inside Soap : "I always felt left out as my sister has won so many awards. So it's nice to finally be nominated."

She added: "But we always support each other and run lines together. We have a really great bond." However, she did admit that during awards season, the debates between the siblings at home can get quite "heated".

The actress said: "There are so many debates at home whenever there are awards ceremonies. Me and my brother are Team Corrie and my sister is obviously team Emmerdale, so it does get a bit heated sometimes!"

Last month, Amelia told Inside Soap that while she's "Team Emmerdale" and her siblings are "Team Corrie", it is "never competitive". She sweetly added: "I’ve run lines with Bella where she’s played Hope and I’ve pretended to be a character from Coronation Street, and she’s done the same with me, so it’s fun!"

And talking about the nomination Amelia sweetly said she hopes her sister wins: "It’s surreal that all three of us have ended up in soaps," she commented. I’m up against Bella for an award for the first time, and as much as I’d love to win, I really hope my sister gets it."

Back in May April made her way onto the cobbles as she joined her younger siblings during a family day on the famous set. Taking to Instagram at the time, Corrie star Jude shared a snap of himself alongside the soap star siblings. The foursome looked casual and worlds away from their on-screen personas as they posed outside the iconic Rovers Return.

Jude wrote: "Great day at the Corrie Cast & Crew fun day. Good catching up with Team Flanagan." And fans were soon flooding the post with comments, particularly compliments for the young actors.
