ITV Coronation Street's 'chilling' scenes as Kelly receives visit from dead character

Coronation Street opened with an exceptionally chilling scene tonight.

Kelly Neelan's anger was coming to a head as the ghost of her dad, Rick Neelan paid her a 'visit'. With him playing devil's advocate in her ear, she imagined herself taking a bat to the back of Gary Windass' head.

The youngster discovered that Gary murdered her dad back in 2019. He then went on to allow her dying mother to take the blame for the death.

Since figuring out the truth, Kelly has had revenge on her mind. Tonight's episode saw her lost in her own thoughts as she thought up vicious ways to get Gary back. Rick was stuck in her head, reminding Kelly "he that dies pays all debts" - fuelling her anger further.

Fans on Twitter had mixed thoughts on the dead character making a 'comeback'. Mike said: "This is a chilling start to the week of @itvcorrie. Rick's back as a ghost in Kelly’s imagination #Corrie."

Westie said: "The ghost of dead daddy Rick putting ideas into Kelly’s head. #Corrie #CoronationStreet @itvcorrie." Ken said: "#Corrie Oh it's all going silly. The ghost of Rick Neelan."

Kelly later offered Kieron £10,000 to do her a favour. She wanted him to act as a hitman and kill Gary.

Speaking about the scenes, actress Millie Gibson, who plays Kelly, said: "You slowly start to see this cold… almost like her dad is coming into her personality. You sort of see Kelly start turning into Rick Neelan.

"In that sense it’s just a completely new personality for her. I think all the good morals she’s gained over the years are completely wiped from her memory and all she can think about is her dad and his morals and the ways he acts and deals with situations."
