ITV Coronation Street's bosses respond after April Fool pranks cause confusion

Coronation Street's bosses have responded after April Fool pranks caused confusion as fans thought they spotted an 'error'.

All the Weatherfield residents were up to no good today as they took to pranking their friends and family.

Tim pretended he'd cut his thumb off, leading to mass panic by Sally and Yasmeen.

David and his daughter Lily pranked Gail, with Audrey in on the secret.

And Tracy managed to trick Steve with shaving foam.

However, viewers pointed out that Coronation Street were airing an episode two days after April Fool's Day.

Sean said: "Corrie characters pulling April Fool's when it's not April Fool's is literally the greatest April Fool's of the year."

Ian wrote: "April Fool's? I'm presuming this would've been Wednesday's second episode then?"

And Declan said: " @itvcorrie it’s so weird seeing all these April fool jokes on the 3rd April."

However, due to the coronavirus pandemic soaps such as Emmerdale and Coronation Street have been forced to reduce their episode numbers.

Kevin Lygo, ITV Director of Television said:“From a scheduling point of view we will reduce the planned 12 episodes a week to eight episodes a week from Monday 30 March.

"Emmerdale will air Monday to Friday at 7pm and Coronation Street Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm."
