ITV Coronation Street's Alan Halsall shares how daughter tries to ruin his cover and why he's trying to top last Christmas

Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has revealed how his 'cheeky' daughter likes to blow his cover when they're out and about. The actor, who is famed for playing Tyrone Dobbs in the ITV soap, would be forgiven trying to keep a low profile when away from working on the show.

But it appears Sienna likes to wind her dad up. Alan, from Walkden, shares his nine-year-old daughter with former Corrie star and current Hollyoaks actress Lucy-Jo Hudson.

During a joint interview with co-star Jennie McAlpine, who plays partner Fiz Stape in Corrie, the pair were asked about whether their young children know who their parents really are and that they are famous soap stars. "They're realising more and more," Jennie, who shares son Albert, eight, and four-year-old daughter Hilda with her husband Chris, told the Manchester Evening News and other press.

"Albert... listen, I'm not in the England starting 11 so he's not interested. It's not his bag," she added before Alan admitted: "My poor little girl has got it from every angle. I'm in Corrie, her mum's on Hollyoaks and my girlfriend [Tisha Merry] was on Coronation Street so she thinks it's normal," he added as Jennie joked at it being 'showbiz'.

The 40-year-old went on to reveal: "Now she's nine, she's getting a bit cheekier with it. We'll be walking around a shop and she'll go, 'Oh look daddy, there's you on a magazine,' and I'm like, 'Oh no,' with my cap on and hood up."

And when he was alerted to the fact he is on the front of the current soap mags in the shops, he joked: "I'll keep Sienna out of the shops," before adding: "They [the kids] can't get away from it."

Alan also shared his Christmas plans and how he may struggle to top last year's festivities. "I love Christmas," the soap star confessed. "I love everything about Christmas. I've got a little girl, she's nine now, so Christmas is a really big event in my house. Last year we were lucky enough to go to Lapland and meet the real Father Christmas.

"I don't know if I can top that this year which is a bit of a worry but Sienna is super excited for Christmas and like I said, I just love everything about it. All the movies, sitting in when it's cold... all of that kind of stuff, I love it." But he did add: "Side note, I'm not looking forward to Elf on the Shelf this year. Fully running out of ideas. I haven't got a clue."

At the time of their incredible trip, Alan shared a video of the moment then eight-year-old Sienna found out about her festive getaway to Finland. Alan filmed his daughter reading a letter from Santa Claus in their Salford home and was heard saying: "Your daddy and Tish are going to bring you a Lap...to Lapland to visit me. No way! No! We are not!"

He captioned the post to his followers: "Her Reaction...I’m not crying, you’re crying !! I cannot wait to see the magic in her eyes, lapland here we come." Alan then kept his followers updated on their trip as they drove snowmobiles and took a ride in a husky-drawn sleigh. And when they came to the end of their trip, they had to pay a very special visit to Father Christmas.

Sharing photos on Instagram of Sienna with Santa Claus as well as a group shot of them posing with the festive figure, Alan wrote: "Dreams really do come true…. This trip to Lapland was everything I could of wished for and more!!"

Alan continued to gush: "It is such a special and magical place, me & @missdrewmerry93 had a trip we will never forget…. But to see that magic through my daughter's eight-year-old eyes is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life #makingmemoriesforlife #lapland #santa."
