Coronation Street viewers were gobsmacked as they uncovered a newcomer's past on today's show.

Wednesday's edition of the long-running soap continued to explore the fallout after Daisy Midgeley's health scare. The character, played by Charlotte Jordan, was concerned when she discovered a lump on her breast.

She visited her doctor in the latest episode to get the lump checked out. The health scare particularly concerned Daniel Osbourne who lost his first wife to cancer.

Daisy was later joined by her onscreen boyfriend for support as the doctor revealed she had a cyst. However, Daisy was on her own in the doctor waiting room when she offered her support to a shocked man, who had just discovered his mum had been diagnosed with cancer.

The man was taken aback by the diagnosis as he revealed his mum led a healthy lifestyle. However, fans following the show on Twitter were distracted during the scene as they spotted he was played by Andrew Still, who is known for his performance as Joel Dexter in Hollyoaks.

Andrew said: "It’s the OG Joel off Hollyoaks"

Westie added: "Hey, it's the original Joel from Hollyoaks"

Lewis posted : "Oh that fella talking to Daisy was in Hollyoaks, fancied him way back when!"

Eric tweeted: "This fella talking to Daisy is from @Hollyoaks"
