ITV Coronation Street legend Wendy Crozier to make shock comeback to the cobbles

Coronation Street will see a comeback for legendary character Wendy Crozier next week after more than a decade away from Weatherfield. Wendy, a former Weatherfield Council secretary, famously had an affair with Ken Barlow in 1989 leading to his first divorce from his wife Deirdre.

In 2012, then a widowed governor at Bessie Street School, she attempted to rekindle her romance with Ken but he rejected her. Wendy makes a return to the cobbles as Abi Webster continues her fight for custody over baby Alfie after the death of his father Imran Habeeb.

A judge orders that Alfie be placed with Abi in a mother and baby foster facility where she will be assessed. And she is introduced to Wendy Papadapoulos, their foster carer. When Abi reveals she’s from Coronation Street, Wendy keeps her counsel.

Wendy, played by Roberta Kerr, met former journalist Ken when was the owner of the Weatherfield Recorder newspaper and they formed a bond over the disdain over council corruption. After splitting from Ken Wendy met Christos Papadopoulos and they got married in 1991, but when Christos developed lung cancer and passed away Wendy moved back to the Manchester area.

In 2012 when Ken stood for chair of governors at Bessie Street School he was shocked to be reunited with Wendy as she was also a governor at the school. Deirdre, who he had remarried, became suspicious that they had rekindled their affair and Wendy lied to Deirdre, saying they'd slept together.

Ken told Wendy that he didn't want to see her again. And Deirdre realised that he'd been telling the truth all along. Talk of Wendy's return has been met with excitement by Corrie fans with @brandon_on_twit exclaiming on Twitter: "Wendy Flamin' Crozier!!" And Christopher Anstey said: "I am a million times more excited about a Wendy Crozier return than I am about a week of 'chaos and carnage'."
