ITV Coronation Street Jack James Ryan's surprise exit sparks fuming fans to 'switch off'

Coronation Street fans were fuming after a character's surprise exit on tonight's show.

Friday's episode continued to explore Jacob Hay's fractured relationship with his dad, Damon. The character, played by Jack James Ryan, was forced to re-enter the murky world of drug dealing in Wednesday's episode with dire consequences.

Jacob was almost caught red-handed by PC Craig Tinker with the drug package so flushed it down the toilet. In tonight's episode, Damon put more pressure on Jacob as he ordered him to leave the street.

One user said: "If this is really the end of Jacob I’m not watching #Corrie anymore"

Russell added: This can’t be the end of Jacob?!"

Mitch posted: "Will genuinely be gutted if Jacob has actually left"
