ITV Coronation Street fans work out baby Alfie twist as Imran vows to support Abi

There was an emotional moment during the latest trip to the cobbles as Imran Habeeb vowed to help Abi Franklin fight for custody of their son.

The lawyer was beside himself when he discovered that Abi had given birth to a baby boy at just 28 weeks pregnant and that his girlfriend Toyah Battersby had been helping her out.

While Toyah didn't reveal it was Abi she was supporting, claiming it was an ex-client, Imran put two and two together when he saw them both deep in conversation on the cobbles.

Realising that the date he slept with Abi during a one-night stand following her son Seb's murder trial last year and the birth of the baby boy at seven months, Imran tried to contact Abi to no avail until he showed up at the hospital and collared her outside the neonatal unit.

But as he went in to see baby Alfie, Toyah showed up almost blowing their secret. Imran admitted that his fiancee needs to know the truth and headed to talk to her.

However, before he could reveal exactly what happened and why he is really at the hospital, Abi stepped in making out that she contacted him for legal advice.

Later, with Toyah only knowing that Imran slept with someone else and not realising it was Abi and that he's now a dad, Imran made a vow to Abi.

"I’m going to help you fight for custody," he said before walking over to his son, he told him: "Hi Alfie. Me and your mum are going to make sure you come home."

It seems to have been confirmed that Imran is the father of Alfie, named after Seb's favourite teddy as a child, during his birth scenes earlier this month when the midwife insisted she needed to know how far along she was in her pregnancy and left fans amazed when Abi replied: "The last time I had sex in the past year was six months ago."

But Corrie viewers have worked out a twist that could confirm whether Imran is - or isn't - the daddy after all and it comes after Abi was told that her premature baby would need surgery due to a problem with his bowels.

@ronan367 tweeted: "They will need Imrans blood, pound to a penny #corrie."

"Guessing baby gonna need a blood transfusion which only Imran can supply," Stephen echoed on Facebook.

Susan then replied: "I thought exactly the same, somewhere along the line the baby is going to need some blood or something that requires one of the parents to supply."

@diggamatik also said before the latest scenes: "Oh no ! Not the old 'there's summit wrong with your illegitimate child, we need to operate & need blood from the biological Father' storyline #Corrie."

"#Corrie Baby will need a blood transfusion, but it will have a rare blood group, only available from a failed lawyer," @I_am_KenBarlow wrote.

@CxxPIPxx guessed: "Wee un is gonna need blood / tissue donation from the biological father, perhaps? #Corrie."
