ITV Coronation Street fans think they know Sonya star as Max actor Paddy Bever sends her sweet message

Coronation Street fans were finally properly introduced to Sonya as she headed on her date with Max Turner. Earlier this month viewers of the ITV soap saw the teen pluck up the courage to start chatting to his new friend online, shortly after starting at the Pupil Referral Unit.

The pair shared a few flirty messages - some of which baffled fans - and they agreed to meet up. And the day had finally arrived, with Max's stepdad David Platt giving Max money to be able to take Sonya out properly. But ahead of the meal at the Bistro, Max received a message from the teen asking him to send her a nude photo. It came after a couple of the lads from the PFU had given the 15-year-old a condom.

But as Max brushed up for the occasion, he was left horrified when Sonya revealed the first time she had spoken to him was when she received a message from an unknown number saying it was him, believing they were just meeting up to discuss a film. She confirmed she never received any messages from him - including any photos - but Max insisted they had been messaging for weeks.

Sonya made a hasty exit leaving Max crushed and also confused. But when he went outside Max’s phone pinged with a message demanding £1,000 or his naked picture would go viral. Out of desperation, he took his dad's card but David was alerted that someone was trying to take money from his account, leaving the teen having to come clean.

As the latest horror for Max played out, Corrie fans were distracted by the actress who plays Sonya, Isabella Smith. @homebrew19721 tweeted: "Seen the girl playing sonia somewhere else #Corrie." Another said: "Definitely recognise Sonia from somewhere."

However, this appears to Isabelle's biggest TV appearance to date. In 2019 she appeared in Hollyoaks as a 'prom teen' but has appeared in various short films and appeared in a couple of musicals in the West End.

Following her main appearance in Corrie, Isabelle took to Instagram with a picture from the scenes. "Sonya and max <3," she wrote. "Such a powerful storyline to be part of beautifully portrayed by paddy who is just insanely talented and it was a pleasure to work with you."

Max actor Paddy Bever was quick to reply, writing: "You’re just the best," and he also shared a message on his own Instagram page. Resharing Isabelle's post, he said: "So much love for @is.abellesmith - she absolutely smashed this role and I am so grateful to have met and worked with her."

Paddy, 19, had already teased Isabelle's appearance on the cobbles earlier this year. Back at the start of last month, the soap star took to Instagram with an array of photos which he captioned "life this past week" and featured an on-set snap with characters Corrie viewers were then yet to meet - with Sonya being one.

The other was actor Adam Little. He took to his own Instagram with a snap of himself stood outside the iconic Rovers Return. "That’s a wrap on Corrie!" he shared alongside the post. Jack P Shepherd, who plays David, was among those to comment, writing: "He’ll be back," while Paddy added: "Smashed it." Joining Paddy and Adam in their photo, taken with the paperboy outside The Kabin, was Isabelle.

The actress shared the same photo to her own Instagram account and said: "Obviously had to have a picture outside the Kabin. Paddy then replied: "A pleasure to work with."
