ITV Coronation Street fans shocked by 'x-rated' scenes

Coronation Street fans were shocked by what some considered 'x-rated' scenes.

In tonight's episode on ITV1 , Maria Connor, played by Samia Ghadie, was showing Bethany Platt, played by Lucy Fallon, the replies she had received on a dating app.

The pair were horrified by the what they were looking at on their phone, which implied a multitude of innuendos to the audience at home.

At one point Maria puts her hand over her mouth, shocked, and said: "That's disgusting."

Bethany takes a look at her profile to see what may have prompted such saucy responses and finds she has written, ' Nextflix and chill', which some will know is a euphemism for sex.

While viewers thought the scene was instantly relatable, they also thought it was a bit x-rated.

One tweeted: "Imagination's going wild atm."

Another said: "#Corrie a bit x-rated," including a laughing emoji.

A third said: "scared to imagine what Maria's seeing on her app!!"

And some felt they had been educated on the slang from the youth of today.

One said: "I must be showing my age as what does watching Netflix & chill mean. Do I want to know?"

A second added: "Netflix and chill’ means pervs apply within. Sweet baby Jesus, who knew?"

*Coronation Street is on ITV1, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm
