ITV Coronation Street fans issue plea after homeless Stu's heart to heart with Kelly

Coronation Street fans were begging for the same thing after tonight's episode.

The first part of Monday's double header continued to explore the misfortunes of Kelly Neelan.

The character played by Millie Gibson has been forced to live on the streets following her release from the young offender institute.

Kelly has since befriended Stu Carpenter, the homeless character who played a key role in the downfall of Corey Brent.

The character made his bow on Wetherfield last month in a temporary role - and has won over the hearts of fans during his short stint after he betrayed the long-running soap's major villain.

Kelly had yet to admit her part in Seb Franklin's murder to Stu - but she confessed her past in an emotional heart to heart at the soup kitchen tonight.

Kelly has been avoiding people from her past so was trying to steer clear of vicar Billy Mayhew as she was getting her hot meal.

However, Stu took her confession in good faith - and assured her she didn't have anything to be concerned about.

Fans were gushing after the heartwarming scene and all issued the same request that Stu needs to be made a permanent character on the show.

One user said: "I hope Stu gets a change of luck and hangs around i think he would b a good addition to the cobbles."

Fi added: "Stu is lovely , can we keep him , please protect him at all costs"

Ryan commented: "I hope Stu is a permanent character I love how caring he is towards Kelly."

Russell tweeted : "Stu needs to become a permanent character on #Corrie"

Lorelei commented: "I love Stu. I hope he stays"

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV and ITVHub
