ITV Coronation Street fans instantly recognise Orla Crawshaw from kids' TV show

Coronation Street viewers realised Orla Crawshaw played the mother in ITV kids' show My Parents Are Aliens.

As Faye had to come to terms with Craig not wanting a baby and Toyah kisses Adam, tensions appear to be rising on the cobbles. Beth also came under fire this week for not being able to hold a secret.

As fans tuned in, their attention ended up on something else besides the drama. After a lot of discussion online, viewers finally realised where they recognise headmistress Orla Crawshaw from.

Carla Mendonca who plays the role of Orla has had a great career but most fans may remember her as Sophie Johnson in a hit ITV show from the early 2000s. Taking on the role of a shapeshifting parent, she appeared in My Parents Are Aliens for several years.

One viewer watching tonight said: "Is it just me or is that Sophie from My Parents Are Aliens in Coronation Street?" Another added: "Haha I recognised her face straight away but couldn't place her! It's the hair, it threw me off." Another said: "Is the teacher Sophie from My Parents Are Aliens?? #corrie."

Carla has been with Coronation Street since last year and plays the role of Weatherfield High’s new deputy headmistress. Recently, fans watched as she tried to make a pass at David after being accused of having a romantic relationship with a student.
