ITV Coronation Street fans in tears as Kate makes shocking discovery about Carla

Coronation Street fans were left in tears after Kate Connor received Rana Habeeb's personal belongings back from the police.

Kate lost her wife-to-be in the Underworld factory collapse and officers had kept the items as part of the investigation.

ITV viewers were heartbroken as Kate, played by Faye Brookes, broke down in tears at the sight of Rana's engagement ring.

One tweeted: "I'm sobbing watching this."

Another said: "I admit the scene where Kate was looking through Rana's belongings crying struck a heart string for me..."

It came just before Kate rushed to find a charger for Rana's phone when she uncovered over 50 messages from Carla Connor.

Carla, played by Alison King, has gone missing after having a breakdown following the trauma from the disaster.

The messages said: "I'm sorry, I am so sorry. Rana please come back. Everyone is after me. You need to come back and tell the police."

While this discovery leads Kate to believe Carla is innocent and in need of help, Rana's brother Imran, played by Charlie de Melo, sees as an apology motivated by guilt and says Carla can not be ruled out as a suspect.

Tonight saw Imran implicated in the theft of Wayne Hayes' health and safety report after it was stolen from Roy's Rolls.
