ITV Coronation Street fans 'in love' with character's 'iconic' new look

A Coronation Street character showed off a new look in the ITV soap this evening and fans loved it.

Mary Taylor, played by Patti Clare, appeared in the café wearing a headscarf and oversized sunglasses as she tried to look inconspicuous. As Ken Barlow said hello to her, she pointed to the glasses and said: "These mean I am incognito. I do not wish to be disturbed."

The character then comically pulled the glasses down and breathily said hello to Adam. Ken tried to talk to her once more and she replaced the glasses and shushed him.

Fans thought the scene was hilarious as they hailed Mary as "iconic". Taking to Twitter viewers shared their joy.

Ryan said: "Mary looking ICONIC #Corrie." Ben said: "Mary might be the best character on the street - mad as a box of frogs #Corrie."

Gravy said: "F***ing love Mary #Corrie." Another user added: "Mary is single-handedly carrying #Corrie at the moment."

It comes as Mary has been super busy rehearsing for the local AmDram play, dashing around and trying to sort scripts with Ken. However, Nigel decided that her acting skills were too over the top and wanted to change the act.
